About

History

SMU's journey began in 1997, when the Singapore government first mooted the idea of a third university for the country. The government wanted SMU to be an experiment in diversity. The experiment began with the choice of the Chairman of the new institution, Mr Ho Kwon Ping, a renowned and successful business entrepreneur.

Education

The Singapore Management University places a high priority on developing and maintaining a consistent corporate image to reinforce its status and position, both in the local and wider communities.

To effectively protect the university's brand, we have developed guidelines to ensure consistent implementation of SMU's visual identity.

Research

From Singapore, the strategic hub of Asia, SMU applies its knowledge and global perspective in an Asian context to bridge concepts and provide critical insights. SMU research aims to create significant impact by addressing these five societal challenges: Economies & Financial Markets, Social Fabric & Quality of Life, Boundaries & Borders, Sustainability, Innovation & Technology.

The planning and development involved a broad spectrum of professional, community, civic and public groups. The goal was to create a unique city campus equipped to accommodate the new millennium, yet remain connected to the historical origins of this important district.

The Sports Hall is located on Level 3 of the SMU Administration Building. The flexible facility caters to a number of sports activities including archery, badminton, basketball, floorball, handball, martial arts, tchoukball, volleyball and other indoor sports.
